Social Profit Dual-Org

The FQN CommUnity Network offers a Dual-Org Social profit Sponsorship for those interested. Although it does take a little work to get everything set up and ready to go, if this is the right sponsorship plan for your vision, there is no alternative. This is the simplest model of a Multi-Organization structure. For more information on Multi-Organization Structure click here.

The basic framework for a Social Profit structure is a simple Dual Organization model, with a for-profit on one side, and a non-profit on the other. Coupled with this we add in Community Equity™ and Societal Equity™, to create a winning combination for any type of collaborative community that wants to have both a non-profit budgetary structure, while simultaneously allowing the community to issue value to people who are contributing towards the community or our society overall.

The most important thing to understand when dealing with Dual or Multi Organizational Structures, is that there can literally be NO overlap between the finances between the two structures. Everything that is Non-profit stays non-profit, and everything that is for-profit stays for-profit. The legal decision making and processes also stay separate, but by having both organizations available for different purposes allows the community of individuals overall to utilize the resources of each organization differently, to allow the needs of the community to be met.

Currently we encourage use of the simple structure of having a sponsored LLC for the for-profit, and a sponsored 501c3 non-profit. This allows for in-kind contributions, as well as tax-deductible donations, but also allows the LLC to issue Equity, Community Equity™, and Societal Equity™ for the work the people are doing but not getting paid because of a lack of budget or other impediment. This is just one possible duel organization combination, and any community can consider any type of nonprofit and for-profit combination, for example a INC and a PAC for a more politically focused activity. It will even be possible to expand the structure to include tokenization, cyber currencies and Distributive Autonomous Organizing (DAO) principles, but we encourage a simple human based manual system to get it all started immediately at this point in time, and overtime to branch out into more complex automated or autonomous systems.

Again it is important to emphasize that when the for-profit does choose to distribute any type of equity, it has NOTHING to do with the activities or budget of the non-profit. The for-profit organization is distributing equity based on direct contributions and systems unique to its own structures and projects, regardless of whether the non-profit exists. In fact in some instances a Duel Organizational structure is simply not necessary, and all the community needs is simply a single sponsored LLC or INC that then distributes Community Equity™ for contributions from individuals. So do consider whether you really do need two organization before you jump head first into the process, as it is double the work to have two organizations instead of one.

Although we sponsor Dual and Multi Organizational structures, we still require each and every organization within the community to be independently proposed and approved separate from every other organization. In other words if you want Dual organizations you must apply for each one separately even if they will be implemented at the same time. These proposals will also go to two separate boards and have different decision making processes, so it is important that they are separate. It is still very simple, just click the apply button above, fill out the application proposal for one organization, send it, and then click the apply button again and fill out the application proposal for the other organization. Its really that simple.
