Candidate Committee – A Candidate Committee is one of the simplest committees to make for yourself, if you are running, or to support someone you know who is interested in running for any public office, either local, state, or federal. Candidate Committees are primarily controlled by the candidates themselves, although they can empower others to make decisions on their behalf, which we require for sponsorship. Because each type of election functions a little differently, the process can change depending on which type of office you or your candidate are running for, but overall it is basically the same everywhere. Sponsoring a Candidate Committee is pretty simple, and involves having our treasure be the treasure, or co-treasure of your Candidate Committee, but it is a special arrangement as each candidate is co-run in collaboration with the Candidate themselves, but there are strict rules on how the money can be spent.  Therefore we have many policies and systems that you can incorporate into your candidate committee to immediately function in a clear structure and framework. You typically do NOT need to form a Candidate committee if you have raised less than $1000. Because of the strict regulation and potential penalties, we have minimum fees and %’s based on your particular situation. Typically the financial requirements of overseeing government committees are twice as much as for-profits and non-profits. So if you would expect to have a 5% total incoming cost flow for a non-profit/for-profit, in a government committee it would be 10% of incoming cost flow. At $1,000 we could estimate the cost at about $100 to cover the administrative, finance, and government filing costs for your committee, but for the specific need of your particular situation we are willing for you to choose your own %. Additionally we encourage people to start with our sponsored Pre-Candidate Committee, and then we can easily transfer to your own sponsored Candidate Committee once you have raised $1,000. Once you start a Candidate Committee, it can’t be stopped usually until after the elections, and a half dozen filing periods. Its a lot of work which is why we have minimum fees and costs.
